Jade's story -
I am/was the epitome of a yo yo dieter, if there was a shake, wrap or pill that promised results I tried it. I am definitely not proud of this fact. Now I have tried gyms and was always intrigued by the weight section, you know that minuscule area hidden behind exercise bikes and cross trainers, but never ventured.
I have known Elaine for many years and unbeknown to her while she was in Dubai I would see on social media that she was looking really great, and seemed to be tied up in bands or in a handstand most of the time. Anyway when she came home and I learned she was opening Crossfit Gaia I was totally on board, I wanted to be tied up in bands and doing handstands too.
I won't lie my primary goal for starting here in the first months was weight loss and I definitely lost weight. However I have noticed my focus has switched from "I need to loose 1 more inch this week" to "I want to add 5kg to my back squat". The reason for this, I think, is because I have gained so much confidence.
Now don't get me wrong I have not had some otherworldly weight transformation in 4 months. But what I do have now is the ability to look in the mirror and say "Yeh I have a wobbly belly" then walk away and not end up sobbing in the fetal position, which probably has happened.
My partner has seen my stomach fully for the first time since having a baby 3 years ago and if he had of been drinking I would have been wearing it. He just couldn't believe how much I had changed mentally in a few short months.
I love this place and can honestly see myself doing this for as long as my body let's me. I cannot thank Gaia and it's members enough for all it has given me. The community spirit we have is undeniable, when you can work out for an hour and then end up chatting for another hour you know your in a good place, with good people.
The members of Gaia are a community we support each other mentally and physically, I have yet to find another gym that does that. If you knocked down the 4 walls around us, we would still be Gaia, Standing sweaty and with our capes blowing majestically in the wind.
Best thing I ever did was book my free taster
